VCI Business Students' Sweet Contribution to Breast Cancer Research
By Madison Parisien
In a heartwarming display of entrepreneurship and community spirit, Grade 10 and 11 business students at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) took on a sweet mission. Led by the dedicated teacher Isabel Campbell, the class organized a cupcake sale during the school's lunch period, selling homemade treats for $2.50 each. The response was overwhelming, with students and staff alike showing their support for the cause.
The students' hard work paid off, as they raised an impressive amount of over $200. This significant contribution will directly support breast cancer research across Canada, a cause close to many hearts. But the impact of this initiative goes beyond the funds raised.
This fundraiser provided a unique learning opportunity for the students. It allowed them to apply their business acumen in a real-world scenario, from strategic pricing and planning to engaging with customers. Through this hands-on experience, they not only contributed to a noble cause but also gained valuable skills that will benefit their future endeavors.
The event was a testament to the power of youth-led initiatives and the positive impact they can have on society. It showcased how a simple idea, executed with dedication, can make a tangible difference. As the students savored the success of their endeavor, they also savored the sweet taste of making a difference, one cupcake at a time.
